End of Summer Parties – Going Back To School and More
Ah, the end of summer; the days begin to get shorter, the weather gets just a bit cooler, and the stores are full of their “Back to School” sales. There's always a bit of wistfulness when summer ends, but you can help your family and friends look forward to autumn – and help your kids face school with a smile – by throwing an End of Summer Party.
Think of your party as more of a “welcome, autumn” than a “farewell, summer”, and you'll start things off with a positive vibe. While you don't want to end up putting together a harvest bash when the you're still wearing shorts, you do want to signal the change of seasons with a happy face. Consider throwing a luau – which is appropriate for anything but the most frigid of weather, since they take place in Hawaii all year long. If that doesn't suit you, what about a “Survivor” party, based on the hit television show? Other ideas would be a football-themed party, since football season is getting ready to begin, or an all out Mexican Fiesta. Since your party theme isn't really tied to any one season, you'll take kids' minds off of school starting, and keep folks celebrating the warm weather that still remains.
Theme parties can span age levels, too; for example, don't assume that a luau is an adults-only affair, or that a football theme means you're throwing a kid's party. Kids love to limbo, and if you set up a game of flag football you'll have weekend quarterbacks out in force. Provide food and drinks appropriate for all ages – make it easy by setting up different “zones” for kids and adults – and you'll have a family friendly get-together.
You want to throw a party but don't have time to run around and get all your “party stuff” together? Take a look at a party in a box. A party in a box is basically a “kit” that will put everything you need, minus the food and drink, in one spot. It will usually contain invitations, party favors, decorations, tableware, and games (at least suggestions for games). Get a party in a box, add food and drink, and you're ready to celebrate.
Be sure that your party in a box has enough supplies for everyone who's coming; you can usually add extra tableware and favors as needed, for an extra fee. Be sure to send out invitations in plenty of time for folks to R.S.V.P.
The end of summer seems to come much too quickly for everyone; however, if you decide to throw an end-of-summer theme party, you'll be able to hang on to some summer fun for a little bit longer.
